Gone fishing ……

Yesterday the fish were jumping!!!!!! A few minutes outside of Mattapoisett Harbor, Janet suggested I get the fishing rod out and see if we could catch anything. We ended up hooking about six fish (loosing most of them). But catching two baby stripers. (more…)

West Falmouth Harbor

Yesterday we explored the entrance to West Falmouth Harbor. From Mattapoisett it’s almost due east. ESE to be precise. It’s an easy day sail and easy to find if you just keep a course for the two water towers. The picture above is the bell buoy marking the harbor’s entrance with the grand old mansions along the shore. (more…)

The Boatyard

   To get back and forth between Mattapoisett Boatyard and Galatea we usually take the launch. Especially if we’re just going out for a daysail. Yesterday, I snapped some pictures of the boatyard while we waited in the launch to head out. (more…)

Springtime Daysails

    The sailing season is just getting going here in Mattapoisett. Janet and I have spent a couple of weekends on the boat so far. Sleeping overnight Saturdays and taking daysails the following Sunday. That may not sound like a lot or even that exciting. But, we’re really loving getting away and being on the water. Just being by the sea. Each weekend feels like a mini-vacation.  The picture above is of Mattapoisett Harbor on our sail back into port last sunday afternoon. (more…)
